Job summary

Vernon Woods Retirement Community, Inc. is looking for a dedicated Medical Technician to provide direct resident care, including medication distribution, under state regulations and facility policies. You will assess residents, monitor condition changes, and maintain thorough documentation throughout each shift.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience; state certification may be required. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care services including medicine distribution according to individualized plan of care.
• Perform resident assessments per state standards and facility policy under supervision.
• Observe residents for changes in condition and report promptly to supervisor or Executive Director.
• Document observations, red flags, and interventions; ensure timely communication at shift handoffs.
• Maintain current individualized care plans for each resident.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.

What You Will Do:

• Provide direct resident care services including medicine distribution to residents. Follow individualized plan of care for all residents.
• Perform resident assessments as required by the state standards/regulations and facility policy, under the direction of the Director of Assisted Living.
• Observe residents for change in condition and report any changes immediately to supervisor and/or the Executive Director. Provide timely interventions to change of condition and share this with care staff and family as instructed.
• Document all pertinent/relevant observations, red flags, incidents, interventions, communication with the resident’s responsible party, physician ( as necessary), clinical procedures and daily medication assistance/care throughout the shift as indicated and no later than by the end of each shift. Effectively pass required information to the next shift in timely manner and as indicated to direct supervisor to ensure quality resident care. Oversees the timely documentation by Resident Assistants of services provided and red flags for their shift.
• Complete and maintain current individualized care plan for each resident.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Why You Are Qualified:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• At least one (1) year of related work experience required.
• Medical Technician certification (as required by State regulations).
• On a daily basis, throughout the workday: Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching and kneeling, reaching over the head, grasping with both hands, and fine manipulation. Must physically be able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
