Responsibilities

  • Medication Administration - Safely performs the technical aspects of medication administration in accordance with NC state laws and guidelines for residents in specified buildings, including documentation and medication supplies handling.
  • Provide routine geriatric health care services and assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Engage residents to support well-being and participation in Life Enrichment activities and related programs.
  • Record resident care activities, observe for health changes, and report discrepancies.
  • Adhere to infection control procedures and collaborate with PT/OT/Speech Therapy as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance and organizational improvement activities.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Perform the technical aspects of medication administration consistent with NC state laws and requirements for residents of Building 4, 2nd Floor and Buildings 5, 6 & 7.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Medication Administration - Safely performs the technical aspects of medication administration consistent with NC state laws and guidelines to residents in Building Four 2nd Floor, Buildings 5, 6, and 7, including, medication record documentation, reorder of medications and supplies from the pharmacy as needed in accordance with ordering protocols. Notifies the Carol Woods Clinic and/or Nurse Coordinator of medication discrepancies or difficulties.
Other Clinical Functions and Duties as needed:
  • Provide routine geriatric health care services to residents in an assigned area based on the resident needs and preferences.
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Provide engagement to residents in a way that honors their preferences (such as reading, art, walking, puzzles, etc.).
  • Encourage resident participation in Life Enrichment events.
  • Support Life Enrichment staff in gathering residents for events.
  • Observe and report obvious physical or behavioral abnormalities or changes from what may be considered "baseline" for an individual resident.
  • Taking and recording vital signs and other data regarding the resident’s physical and mental status.
  • Record resident care activities on proper documentation, using Electronic Health Record/Touchscreen
  • Use proper infection control procedures to reduce the risk of infection, including hand washing, proper handling of soiled linen and trash, etc.
  • Assist the resident with other restorative/rehabilitation activities started by PT, OT, and/or Speech Therapy
  • Participate in resident care/wellbeing planning.
  • Participate in peer reviews to monitor quality care issues.
  • Fiscal accountability, proper supply ordering and proper use/care of equipment
  • Completion of mandatory On-line educational modules (monthly and as otherwise assigned).
  • Attendance at required educational sessions, in-services, and staff meetings.
  • Attendance at annual Culture Day session (Full-time mandatory)
  • Involvement/understanding of Organizational Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
  • All other duties as assigned.
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS:
Education:
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Nurse Aide I training program
  • Medication Aide in Adult Care Home Training Program
  • Listing on the Nurse Aide I and Medication Aide registries through NCDHHS without substantiated findings
  • CPR Certification, AHA or ARC, Adult Module
Experience:
  • Experience working with the elderly preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in health care related field
Physical:
Able to:
  • Bend, stoop, squat, crawl reach, kneel and lift to assist residents using proper body mechanics for sustained periods of time.
  • Stand, walk for long periods.
  • Move equipment or small pieces of furniture.
