Job summary

Avamere Living in Las Vegas is seeking a Medication Tech to administer medications and provide direct care to residents in memory care and assisted living settings.

Shifts include day, evening, and night hours; a flexible schedule and weekend availability are needed. Wage ranges from $15 to $17 per hour, DOE.

You will pass medications, document in the EMR, coordinate with nurses, and support residents' health and safety under supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience as Caregiver/Medication Tech in memory care unit or assisted living facility.
• Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification during employment.
• Experience in electronic medical records/documentation.

Responsibilities

• Pass medications according to physician orders and under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Administer medications accurately and timely.
• Record medications administered in the resident's record.
• Notify pharmacy or family when medications need refilling.
• Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and room.
• Monitor and report side effects to the Director of Health Services.
• Record sufficient information in EMR to update orders.
• Follow care plans for medication administration.
• Assist with medical appointments and communicate with healthcare providers.
• Observe residents for health changes and report concerns to medical staff.
• Document changes in residents' status in the EMR.
• Complete accident and incident reports as required by policy.
• Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.
• Participate in in-service education programs.
• Report changes in resident conditions promptly.
• Follow directions and work cooperatively with staff.
• Ensure resident safety and confidentiality.

Shifts: Day shift (6AM - 2PM), Evening Shift (2PM-10PM) and Night Shift (10pm-6am)

Various schedule, weekend availability needed

Wage: $15-$17/hr DOE

Location: Avamere at Las Vegas- 6031 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89108

The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.

• Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy.
• Administer accurately and timely.
• Record medications administered in the resident's record.
• Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled.
• Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
• Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services.
• Obtain/provide shift report. Record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.
• Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident's needs and their comprehensive assessment as assigned.
• Assisting with medical appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, and advocating for the residents' needs
• Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.
• Document information pertaining to changes in residents' status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record.
• Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy
• Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.
• Participate in in-service education programs as assigned.
• Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services.
• Follow written and oral directions.
• Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.
• Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision.
• Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers.
• Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements

• Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
