Job summary

Westminster Assisted Living & Memory Care of Decatur is seeking a compassionate Medication Aide in SIC to support our clinical team by administering medications, assisting with daily living activities, and documenting care in resident records.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, state certification as a Medication Aide, and prior experience in senior care; strong communication, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• State certification as Medication Aide preferred, on-the-job training available.
• Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in senior care or assisted living preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols, and infection control practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Medication Administration: Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, timing, and documentation.
• Specialized Care Support: Provide individualized care for residents with specific medical needs, including assistance with ADLs.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely medication records and report adverse reactions or errors to the supervising nurse.
• Resident Monitoring: Observe residents for side effects or changes in condition and alert the healthcare team as needed.
• Medication Storage & Handling: Ensure medications are stored safely and securely per state regulations and facility policies.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work with nursing staff, physicians, and other professionals to ensure optimal care.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow regulations, guidelines, and protocols for medication administration and safety.
