Job summary

Signature HealthCARE Bremen is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to administer medications to residents under supervision, following established nursing standards and state requirements. Responsibilities include accurate medication preparation, documentation, and observing for any refusals or errors.

You will support daily living activities and participate in quality assurance, with opportunities for growth within a compassionate, resident-centered culture. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Current Medication Aide Certification and Nursing Assistant Certification in the state of practice.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate medication preparation and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of facility policies and applicable state regulations governing medication administration.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a nursing team and under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
• Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
• Approachable, flexible, and adaptable to change.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing.
• Adheres to the 5 rights of medication administration (right resident, right medication, right dose, right route, right time).
• Observes and documents medication administration, including refusals, omissions, or errors, and notifies the Charge Nurse.
• Monitors medication supply levels and coordinates with the Charge Nurse to ensure adequate stock.
• Adheres to controlled substances, narcotic recordkeeping, and medication destruction requirements per state and federal guidelines.
• Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provides CNA-level care as directed.
• Participates in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing.

How you Will make a difference

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) administers medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing. Medication administration is performed in accordance with established nursing standards, facility policies and procedures, and applicable state requirements.

• Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document oral and/or topical medications as ordered by the attending physician, per state and federal guidelines.
• Adhere to the 5 rights of medication administration (right resident, right mediation, right does, right route, right time)
• Observe and document medication administration, including any refusals, omissions, or errors, and promptly notify the Charge Nurse.
• Monitor medication supply levels and coordinate with the Charge Nurse to ensure adequate stock is maintained.
• Adhere to controlled substances, narcotic recordkeeping, and medication destruction requirements per state and federal guidelines.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide CNA-level care as needed and directed.
