Job summary

The Hermitage is seeking a compassionate Medication Aide - SIC to support our clinical team in administering medications and providing specialized care to residents. This role emphasizes safe medication management, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and responsive monitoring of residents in a senior care setting.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, state certification as a Medication Aide, and experience in healthcare, preferably in assisted living.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • State certification as a Medication Aide preferred, on-the-job training available.
  • Healthcare experience, especially in senior care or assisted living, preferred.
  • Knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols, and infection control.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Compassion for the elderly and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, timing, and documentation.
  • Provide individualized care and support for residents with medical needs and assist with ADLs.
  • Maintain accurate medication records and report adverse reactions to the supervising nurse.
  • Monitor residents for side effects or changes in condition and inform the healthcare team.
  • Ensure medications are stored safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and other professionals to deliver high-quality care.
  • Follow all regulations and safety protocols for medication administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, timing, and documentation.
  • Specialized Care Support: Provide individualized care for residents with specific medical needs, including assistance with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely medication records and documentation, including reporting any adverse reactions or medication errors to the supervising nurse.
  • Resident Monitoring: Monitor residents for side effects or changes in condition related to medication, notifying the healthcare team of any concerns or changes in their health status.
  • Medication Storage & Handling: Ensure medications are stored safely and securely in compliance with state regulations and facility policies.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for residents.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow all regulations, guidelines, and protocols for medication administration and safety to ensure the highest standard of care.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • State certification as a Medication Aide preferred, on-the-job training available.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in senior care or assisted living (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols, and infection control practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
