Job description

  • Complete benefit investigations to determine coverage for prescribed treatments
  • Obtain prior authorization for medications and document referrals using appropriate third-party payer criteria
  • Research and follow up within established timeframes
  • Communicate authorization and assistance application status to care teams
  • Maintain knowledge of patient medication assistance foundations, free-drug programs, and drug replacement programs
  • Identify appropriate medication assistance programs based on patient affordability discussions
  • Complete required paperwork and obtain necessary signatures for assistance program enrollment
  • Track fund award end dates and exhaustion and reapply as necessary to avoid therapy lapses
  • Educate providers and patients on specialty services
  • Grow the specialty pharmacy’s patient population
  • Float between low- and high-workload areas to provide patient services
  • Comply with job-specific obligations and organizational policies and procedures
