Job summary

Ascend Hospice seeks a Billing Coordinator to manage Medicare and Medicaid billing and ensure timely, accurate submissions. The role involves monitoring high balance accounts, following up on primary and secondary billing, and developing action plans to lower receivables and improve cash flow.

You will work with Medicaid/Medicare representatives to verify payments, submit NOEs, and ensure regulatory compliance. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with patient accounting systems are required.

Qualifications

• 4 years of related Billing experience
• Knowledge of state and federal billing and audit requirements
• Experience with healthcare or hospice billing and data entry

Responsibilities

• Monitor high balance accounts and follow up
• Ensure timely primary and secondary billing follow-ups
• Develop monthly action plans to lower receivables and increase cash flow
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws
• Collaborate with Medicaid/Medicare representatives for accurate payments
• Submit NOEs for assigned payors
• Follow up on certification and recertification
• Follow up Medicaid pending with staff
• Serve as nursing facility liaison on Medicaid issues
• Analyze and post Medicaid remittance advices
• Inform Manager of Medicaid issues
• Utilize patient accounting system proficiently
• Ensure patient income is accurately reflected in the system
• Process Medicaid room and board payments to facilities timely
• Obtain necessary documentation from hospice staff to meet billing requirements
• Answer inquiries regarding financial data and billing
• Maintain monthly records for In-Patient Unit, Respite admissions, and private insurance patients
• Verify incoming accounts
• Perform insurance billing and payment audits
• Send discharge/revocation letters to facilities
