Job summary

North Central Surgical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Laboratory Technician to cover Monday–Friday 10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. with rotating weekends. The role includes phlebotomy, routine lab testing, and documentation in Cerner.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least an associate degree in medical laboratory technology or higher, and relevant certifications. Prior lab experience and color-detection ability are preferred, with BLS within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or higher in medical laboratory technology; or bachelor's in medical technology, clinical lab science or related science.
• ASCP or AMT registration as MT/MLT/CLS preferred.
• At least one year experience in Laboratory setting.
• Phlebotomy certification or eligible preferred.
• Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies/standards.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to detect color and color changes.
• BLS by AHA or obtain within 30 days from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy duties.
• Routine laboratory procedures related to preparing human biological samples for microbiological, hematological, and chemical analysis.
• Performs routine and stat laboratory testing, including (but not necessarily limited to) CBC, BMP, CMP, PT, PTT, UA, PFA, rapid flu, rapid strep, occult blood, hCG, and hemoglobin A1c testing.
• Scanning of documents into patients’ charts in Cerner.
• Other duties as needed by laboratory director or supervisor.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Associate degree or higher in medical laboratory technology; or bachelor's in medical technology, clinical lab science or related science

ASCP or AMT registration as an MT/MLT/CLS preferred

At least one year experience in Laboratory setting

Phlebotomy certification or eligible preferred
