Job summary
Piper Companies is seeking a Medical Technologist to support a leading nonclinical research organization focused on drug development and laboratory animal studies. This onsite role is in Gaithersburg, MD.
The candidate should have clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis experience and knowledge of GLP. ASCP or equivalent certification is preferred; ADVIA 2120 experience is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- ASCP certification preferred
- Experience in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis
- Experience reading blood smears and performing manual microscopy reviews
- Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting
- GLP knowledge preferred
- Experience with ADVIA 2120 instrumentation highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Operate laboratory instrumentation to analyze biological samples from research animals
- Perform clinical pathology testing including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis
- Conduct manual testing such as blood smear reviews and manual reticulocyte counts
- Perform quality control and routine maintenance on laboratory instruments
- Review laboratory data for accuracy and troubleshoot instrumentation concerns
- Document observations and test results per GLP and study protocols
- Collaborate with Study Directors and staff to support ongoing research studies
