Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis and result reporting. The role requires independent judgment, strong attention to detail and the ability to resolve technical issues with instrumentation.

Responsibilities include receiving specimens, identifying them, assessing suitability, reagent preparation, and instrument maintenance, with an on-call schedule and variable shifts in Tacoma, WA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Sciences is required.
• Master’s degree in Medical Technology is preferred.
• Certification for Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) by ASCP, or AMT or MT (AAB) is required/recognized.
• Specialist Certification in discipline (preferred) SH, SM, SBB, SC (ASCP) or related.
• Certification details reflect the standard MT qualifications at a hospital laboratory.

• Determine suitability of specimens.
• Acquire/prepare reagents as needed.
• Perform instrument maintenance and calibration.

Position Summary

The Medical Technologist is an excellent technical opportunity at MultiCare, responsible for performing patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, results reporting, instrument maintenance and technical problem resolution. This position requires a service-committed individual, who is detail oriented and can perform complex data analysis, exercise sound, independent judgment and demonstrate critical thinking skills.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $39.14 - $62.07 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
