Position Details

***This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in either the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.***

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
  2. Examine and analyze body fluids and cells; match blood for transfusions.
  3. Be familiar with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) requirements for maintaining blood products for transfusion.
  4. Analyze chemical content of fluids and test for drug levels in blood.
  5. Prepare specimens, count cells, and look for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.
  6. Analyze test results and communicate findings to physicians.
  7. Culture body fluid and tissue samples to detect bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms.
  8. Analyze samples for chemical content or reactions; determine concentrations of compounds like glucose and cholesterol.
  9. Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and monitor programs to ensure test accuracy.
  10. Use universal safety precautions to protect against biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
  11. Order and stock supplies; maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with regulations.
  12. In addition to patient preparation and equipment operation, keep patient records and maintain equipment; may also involve scheduling, purchasing, or managing radiology departments.
  13. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Complete a formal Medical Technology training program leading to a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Be certified by AMT, ASCP, or NCA.
  • Maintain current BLS certification.
  • Have at least 2 years' experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Have recent clinical experience in direct patient care, with at least 6 months in the last 12 months in the desired field.
  • Be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, office equipment, and MS Office required.
  • Adaptability to sudden changes and flexible work requirements, including potential shift changes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to resolve inquiries promptly.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
  • Work typically performed in an interior/office environment.
  • Sitting and standing for prolonged periods involved.
