Job summary

St. Mary's Regional Medical Center invites applications for a full-time Medical Technologist (Non-Registered). The role covers diverse lab disciplines, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, serology, and phlebotomy, with emphasis on accurate results and patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, or Associates degree in Applied Science plus currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Science along with completion of approved internship in Medical Technology preferred.
• Previous medical experience preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.
• Good computer skills and experience with Microsoft applications required.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, serology, urinalysis, coagulation, and phlebotomy.
• Demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection using age-appropriate techniques.
• Ensure safe handling, collection, and preservation of specimens to maintain integrity and quality.
• Label, accession, and deliver specimens to appropriate departments.
• Respond to STAT, ASAP, NOW, and outpatient phlebotomy requests promptly.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory instrumentation.
• Participate in evaluation of Quality Control procedures.
• Communicate critical information to appropriate departments and alert staff regarding STAT orders.
