We are seeking a qualified Medical Technologist I to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood and body fluid specimens. This role requires minimal supervision and a commitment to accuracy, quality control, and laboratory safety. The Medical Technologist I contributes to patient care by ensuring timely, reliable test results, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting regulatory compliance. Responsibilities may also include teaching new staff and performing phlebotomy duties as needed.

Essential Functions

• Perform accurate and efficient moderate and high complexity tests, ensuring timely reporting and proper documentation.
• Follow quality control procedures, analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct routine instrument checks and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and coordinate repairs or notify appropriate personnel.
• Maintain safety standards and use personal protective equipment according to policies.
• Communicate effectively with team members and healthcare staff regarding results and equipment issues.
• Assist with proficiency testing, data collection, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Support patient care by collecting specimens and performing phlebotomy as required.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and department responsibilities.
• Adhere to all organizational policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field, or
• Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency exam approved by HHS (HEW).
• 0-2 years of acute care laboratory experience.

• Strong understanding of laboratory procedures, quality control, and safety regulations.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with laboratory instruments.

Licenses and Certifications
