Responsibilities

Independently perform laboratory procedures for which trained and demonstrated competency. Conduct laboratory testing on patients of all ages, utilizing professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, and execute, interpret, and analyze results accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus sufficient college and/or technical courses and clinical training to meet testing and certification requirements as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency.
• Experience: None beyond education/training required.
• Licensure/Certification: Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB, per Georgia Department of Community Health regulations. Recent movers or graduates may have a temporary classification for up to 18 months to complete required exams. AAB provisional certification is not accepted.
• Additional Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or related life sciences preferred. One year supervised clinical experience preferred. Competency in areas such as chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, microbiology is desirable.
