Job summary

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC is recruiting Medical Technologists to support the Reno VA Medical Center. The role involves performing comprehensive clinical laboratory testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation, with reporting aligned to lab policies.

Collaboration with providers and staff is essential to ensure high-quality patient care. Qualified candidates have an accredited bachelor's degree in medical lab science (or related) with NAACLS/CAAHEP/ABHES

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science or related field and completion of an accredited medical technology clinical practice program (NAACLS/CAAHEP/ABHES).
• OR Accredited NACCLS Bachelors-level degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related program; NAACLS accredited program completion.
• Current ASCP or AMT certification/registration.
• Minimum one year of laboratory experience in the past five years.
• VA laboratory environment experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range of clinical laboratory testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation.
• Analyze patient specimens and report results per lab policies.
• Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Ensure quality control and quality assurance; document activities.
• Review and release test results with accuracy and turnaround times.
• Handle specimen processing, preparation, and storage per protocol.
• Recognize instrument malfunctions and take corrective actions.
• Maintain safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
• Record-keeping in LIS and collaboration with healthcare teams.

Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is recruiting Medical Technologists to support the Reno VA Medical Center located at 975 Kirman Ave, Reno, NV 89502. Shift schedule is typically Sunday–Wednesday, 10-hour shifts. Any assigned schedule is subject to change at the direction of Ansible or its customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of clinical laboratory testing in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation
• Analyze patient specimens and accurately report laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Ensure quality control and quality assurance standards are met and document all required laboratory activities
• Review, verify, and release test results while maintaining accuracy and timely turnaround times
• Perform specimen processing, preparation, handling, and storage according to laboratory protocols
• Recognize instrument malfunctions and testing discrepancies and take appropriate corrective actions
• Adhere to all laboratory safety, infection control, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
• Maintain accurate records and documentation within the laboratory information system (LIS)
• Collaborate with laboratory staff, providers, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care
• Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuing education activities as required
• Support operational needs of the laboratory, including weekend, holiday, and off-shift coverage as necessary

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related science (i.e. biology, chemistry, etc.) AND completion of an accredited medical technology clinical practice program (i.e. NAACLS, CAAHEP, ABHES)

• OR
• Accredited (NACCLS) Bachelors-level degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related program
• Graduate from a medical technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)
• Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• Minimum one (1) year experience within the past five (1) years
• Previous experience working in a VA laboratory environment is highly preferred
• Experience operating any of the following analyzers is strongly preferred:
• Chemistry: Abbott Alinity ci
• Hematology: Sysmex
• Coagulation: ACL TOP
• Urinalysis: Sysmex
• Blood Bank: Bio-Rad IH-500
• Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory medicine techniques and practices
• Demonstrated education and clinical training in the practice of laboratory medicine

All candidates must be able to:

• Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
• Lift up to 20 lbs
• Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
• Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
