Job summary

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist to join the Reno VA Medical Center laboratory team. You will perform a full range of clinical testing, ensure QC/QA, and report results accurately within established policies.

Qualifications include an accredited MLS degree, NAACLS/CAAHEP/ABHES accreditation, and ASCP/AMT certification, with preference for VA lab experience. On-site work with potential weekend coverage and shift flexibility.

Qualifications

• Accredited bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field and completion of an accredited clinical practice program.
• Graduate from NAACLS accredited program or equivalent.
• Current certification/registration by ASCP or AMT.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience in the past five years.
• Experience in a VA laboratory environment preferred.
• Experience operating analyzers listed: Abbott Alinity ci, Sysmex, ACL TOP, Sysmex, Bio‑Rad IH‑500.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of clinical laboratory testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation.
• Analyze patient specimens and report results per policies and procedures.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Ensure quality control and quality assurance standards are met and documented.
• Review, verify, and release test results with timely turnaround.

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Medical Technologists to support the Reno VA Medical Center located at 975 Kirman Ave, Reno, NV 89502. Shift schedule is typically Sunday-Wednesday 10‑hour shifts. Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of clinical laboratory testing in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation.
• Analyze patient specimens and accurately report laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Ensure quality control and quality assurance standards are met and document all required laboratory activities.
• Review, verify, and release test results while maintaining accuracy and timely turnaround times.
• Perform specimen processing, preparation, handling, and storage according to laboratory protocols.
• Recognize instrument malfunctions and testing discrepancies and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Adhere to all laboratory safety, infection control, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation within the laboratory information system (LIS).
• Collaborate with laboratory staff, providers, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
• Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuing education activities as required.
• Support operational needs of the laboratory, including weekend, holiday, and off‑shift coverage as necessary.

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related science (i.e. biology, chemistry, etc.) AND completion of an accredited medical technology clinical practice program (i.e. NAACLS, CAAHEP, ABHES)
• Accredited (NAACLS) Bachelors‑level degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related program
• Graduate from a medical technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)
• Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• Minimum one (1) year experience within the past five (1) years
• Previous experience working in a VA laboratory environment is highly preferred.
• Experience operating any of the following analyzers is strongly preferred:
• Chemistry: Abbott Alinity ci
• Hematology: Sysmex
• Coagulation: ACL TOP
• Urinalysis: Sysmex
• Blood Bank: Bio‑Rad IH‑500
• Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory medicine techniques and practices
• Demonstrated education and clinical training in the practice of laboratory medicine

All candidates must be able to:

• Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
• Lift up to 20 lbs
• Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
• Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
