Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our team. You will prepare samples, analyze bodily fluids, collect blood for transfusions, and operate laboratory equipment while ensuring accuracy and reporting results to physicians and nurses.

The role emphasizes Quality Assurance and adherence to organizational standards, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care and supporting transfusion services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Medical Technologist license preferred (ASCP/AMT).

Responsibilities

• Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing.
• Collects samples and analyzes bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities.
• Collects blood and studies blood samples used in transfusions.
• Operates laboratory equipment in a high-quality, effective manner.
• Analyzes test results for accuracy and reports per standards.
• Performs automated tests using computerized instruments and equipment.

How You'll Contribute

A Medical Technologist who excels in this role:

• Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing.
• Collects samples and analyze bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities.
• Collects blood and study blood samples used in transfusions
• Operates laboratory equipment in a high-quality, effective manner.
• Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and reports/documents results per organizational standards.
• Performs automated tests using computerized instruments & automated equipment.
• Runs tests and analyzes the results to be reported to the physician or registered nurse.
• Performs Quality Assurance work to ensure accuracy of equipment.
