Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform technical procedures, ensure quality control, and participate in quality management processes.

Qualified candidates will hold a B.S. in MT/MLS or related science with lab training, and ASCP or equivalent certification is preferred. Evening and night shifts include coverage of Central Lab Microbiology and Blood Bank/Stat Microbiology.

Qualifications

• A B.S. and successful completion of an accredited MT/MLS program.
• A B.S in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science including a Laboratory training program.
• HHS sanctioned reviewer, ASCP accreditation or equivalent.
• A B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science degree that includes 60 semester hours of medical lab technology courses or other sciences as specified by CLIA.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for independent performance of technical procedures, including emergency and routine patient testing, quality control, and preventive maintenance.
• Qualifies as a General Supervisor designate, per CLIA, in the absence of the Section Supervisor or Manager.
• Evening shift covers Central Lab Microbiology; Night shift staff required to cover Blood Bank and Stat Microbiology.

Requirements

• A B.S. and successful completion of an accredited MT/MLS program
• A B.S in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science including a Laboratory training program or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLS
• HHS sanctioned reviewer, ASCP accreditation or equivalent.
• A B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science degree that includes 60 semester hours of medical lab technology courses or other sciences as specified by CLIA.
• 5 years experience in a licensed Clinical laboratory.
• M.T. or MLS (ASCP) preferred
• Core Lab (Chemistry, Hematology and Urinalysis). Evening shift covers Central Lab Microbiology; Night shift staff is required to cover Blood Bank and Stat Microbiology.
