Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician for the Day Shift. The role offers up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus and works in a fast-paced clinical laboratory setting.

The candidate will perform all clinical testing, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain quality control and safety standards while collaborating with the laboratory team.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for ASCP certification.
• Educational requirements reflect ASCP track for MT/MLT roles.
• Strong communication and teamwork capabilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing following guidelines.
• Maintains high level of quality assurance.
• Practices established safety procedures including Universal Precautions.
• Recognizes problems and applies corrective actions.
• Consults with supervisor/manager for decisions when criteria are unclear.
• Coordinates evaluation of new reagents and equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Position Purpose:

Up to $10,000 Sign On Bonus

The Medical Technologist/ Medical Laboratory Technician performs laboratory testing. Has knowledge of the clinical significance of results, monitors and understands operation of instrumentation, and reports results accurately and

rapidly.

What you'll do:

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing following established guidelines.
• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.
• Practices established safety procedures, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
• Able to recognize a problem by following prescribed strategies and make necessary corrections.
• Where no present criteria for decisions are available, will consult with supervisor/manager. In absence of supervisor/manager, will act to determine final decision.
• Coordinates and evaluates new reagents, procedures and equipment as requested by supervisor/manager.
• Performs routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.

This colleague will work 630a -3p and/or 3x12's depending on staffing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, associate's degree in medical laboratory Technician, or related field.
• Licensure / Certification: Certification from American Society of Clinical Pathologists, equivalent; eligible for certification.
• If applicable, must maintain active certification.
• Experience: Preferred, but not required.
