Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technologist/Scientist for a two-site, two-night-a-week schedule at Mount Carmel New Albany and Dublin. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, laboratory testing, rapid reporting of results, and maintaining QC standards.

Eligibility requires a MLS/MLT degree, ASCP (or equivalent) certification eligibility, and a minimum of 1 year lab experience. This role includes a sign-on bonus up to $5,000 and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Licensure/Certification: ASCP Certification or equivalent; eligible for certification.
• Active Certification: if applicable, must be maintained.
• Blood bank experience preferred.
• Generalist lab experience required.
• Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing per guidelines.
• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.
• Practices safety procedures, including universal precautions.
• Identify problems and implement corrections per procedures.
• Consults supervisor/manager for decisions when criteria are unavailable.
• Coordinates and evaluates new reagents, procedures and equipment.
• Performs routine and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Medical Lab Tech or Medical Lab Scientist, Part-time, Night Shift

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $5,000.

Position Purpose:

The Medical Technologist performs phlebotomy and laboratory testing. Has knowledge of the clinical significance of results, monitors and understands operation of instrumentation, and reports results accurately and rapidly.

*This position will work two, 12 hour night shift position a week one at Mount Carmel New Albany and one at Dublin.

What you'll do:

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.

• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.

• Performs and interprets quality control testing following established guidelines.

• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.

• Practices established safety procedures, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.

• Able to recognize a problem by following prescribed strategies and make necessary corrections.

• Where no present criteria for decisions are available, will consult with supervisor/manager. In absence of supervisor/manager, will act to determine final decision.

• Coordinates and evaluates new reagents, procedures and equipment as requested by supervisor/manager.

• Performs routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.

• Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology

• Licensure / Certification: Certification from American Society of Clinical Pathologists, equivalent; eligible for certification.

• If applicable, must maintain active certification.
