Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform a broad range of laboratory procedures across hematology, chemistry, serology, blood bank, urinalysis and microbiology. You will participate in QA/QI, ensure equipment maintenance, and support proficiency testing to meet accreditation standards.

The role includes training staff and may involve phlebotomy as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Lab Technology, Clinical Lab Science, or related field.
• 2 years of clinical lab experience preferred.
• ASCP or AMT certification required upon hire.
• Ability to follow SOPs and QA/QC protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform hematology, chemistry, serology, blood bank, urinalysis, and microbiology procedures.
• Ensure accurate testing and timely reporting of results.
• Support proficiency testing and accreditation readiness (CAP, DNV, CLIA).
• Maintain equipment, QC documentation, and inventory control.
• Train new staff and students as needed.
