Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our clinical laboratory. The successful candidate will perform quality control, instrument maintenance, and a broad range of analyses to support diagnosis and patient care.

He/she reports to the Assistant Director of Pathology and works within a collaborative lab team at our Lake Charles facility. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in medical technology, completes a one-year internship, and possesses a Louisiana

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science.
Completion of a one-year internship in medical technology.
Louisiana CLS-Generalist license; MT (ASCP) or equivalent cert.
Strong communication and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment.
Verifies instrument functioning by calibration and documentation.
Records repairs and maintenance on logs.
Conducts chemical, hematological, microbiological, immunological analyses of body fluids.
Analyzes test results and records findings.
Trains and supervises students.
Performs duties according to age-specific needs.
Performs troubleshooting as necessary.
Communicates critical results within guidelines.
Notifies Pathologist and Section leader of unusual results.
Meets turnaround times.
