Job summary

Jefferson Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Laboratory team. The role involves performing waived, moderate, and high complexity testing and handling manual diagnostic procedures to support patient care.

The ideal candidate will have accredited MT training, current MT certification, and BLS. Prior experience is preferred but not required, with opportunities for growth within the hospital.

Qualifications

• Accredited MT program completed.
• Current MT certification through a Board of Certification Accreditation Program.
• 2 years of experience preferred but not required.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing in the Laboratory.
• Performs manual diagnostic testing procedures.
• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by chemical analysis of blood, urine, gastric fluid, swabs, and other specimens for testing.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using proficient microscopic techniques.
• Performs venipunctures (using syringe, butterfly, and evacuated tube methods), heel sticks, finger sticks, urine, and other specimen collections.

Job Description:

We’re seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Jefferson Hospital.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing in the Laboratory.
• Performs manual diagnostic testing procedures.
• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analysis of blood, urine, gastric fluid, swabs, and other specimens for testing.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, while exhibiting proficient microscopic techniques and procedures.
• Performs venipunctures (using syringe, butterfly, and evacuated tube methods), heel sticks, finger sticks, urine, and other specimen collections.

Position Requirements:

• Successful completion of an accredited MT program.
• Current MT certification through a Board of Certification Accreditation Program.
• 2 years of previous experience is preferred but not required.
• Current BLS certification.
