Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast in Pasadena, TX seeks a Medical Technologist to perform bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological and immunoassay procedures in the laboratory under the supervision of the Laboratory Director/Laboratory Manager.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor Degree in MT/CLS or be CLIA-qualified, with MT/CLS certification preferred and at least one year of clinical lab experience. We offer comprehensive benefits and a strong commitment to compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in MT/CLS or CLIA-qualified.
• MT/CLS certification or eligibility preferred.
• One year clinical lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, complex or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological and immunoassay procedures on body fluids.
• No supervision for processing specimens, performing testing, or reporting results.
• Maintain required competencies in all departments assigned.
• Demonstrate accuracy for all testing performed.
• Adhere to patient safety, risk management and infection control policies.
• Perform quality control and required proficiency testing.
• Maintain competence and pursue personal and professional growth.
• Identify opportunities for performance improvement on the unit and other service areas.
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by managing time, reducing waste and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
• Advocate for and protect health, safety and rights of the patient.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, business office, and medical records for continuity of care.
• Maintain attendance, punctuality and timekeeping practices.
• Show a positive attitude, initiative and motivation to achieve goals of unit, facility and organization.
• Uphold standards of the profession and organization and practice ethically and with integrity.
• Other duties as assigned
