Boston Medical Center is seeking a Medical Technologist II to provide support for clinical activities by performing and interpreting complex laboratory tests. The successful candidate will hold a relevant Bachelor's degree and possess certification, with a focus on compliance, quality assurance, and effective communication in a dynamic laboratory environment. This full-time position requires on-site work with rotating shifts, ensuring optimal patient care through high-quality laboratory services.
Requires a Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college in Medical Technology or Clinical Lab Sciences. Requires a minimum of 3 years of clinical lab experience, with a preference for 5 years. Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency as a Med Technologist, Med Technician, or microbiology categorical or specialty certification is preferred.
Under the general direction of the Technical Supervisor, provides ancillary support for clinical activities by performing and interpreting moderate and high complexity clinical laboratory tests as defined under CLIA ‘88.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, including clinical internship, or in an applied science (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certification by ASCP, NCA, or equivalent preferred. Equivalent agency certification requiring a science degree and exam is acceptable.
Experience: 2 years in clinical laboratory for those with a Chemistry, Biology, or Biochemistry degree; 1 year for those with Medical Technology or CLS degrees.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of high complexity testing standards, ability to perform and interpret such tests, maintain compliance with regulations, manual dexterity, and effective communication skills.
Work is on-site, 40 hours weekly during first shift, with rotating weekends and holidays. No remote work involved.
