Job summary

The University of Miami’s UHealth Laboratories Department is seeking a Medical Technologist 2 (Immunology and Histocompatibility) to perform microbiological, molecular, and immunological testing on patient specimens and support QA and instrument maintenance.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, Florida Medical Technologist License, and a minimum of two years of experience, with flexibility to cover evenings, nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Florida Medical Technologist License required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Verifies specimen identification with orders and prepares samples for testing.
• Analyzes results and interprets abnormal findings.
• References data and testing results to pathologists for evaluation.
• Calibrates equipment and maintains inventory of supplies.
• Performs quality-control tests and records data.
• Trains staff on laboratory techniques and operations.
• Maintains safety and confidentiality per university policy.
• Ensures Turn Around Time targets are met.
• Participates in proficiency testing and method validation.
• Leads and supports staff during on-call duties and shifts.
