Job summary

The University of Miami Health System’s UHealth Laboratories – Blood Bank Department is seeking a full-time Medical Technologist 2 in Miami, FL. The MT-2 will perform microbiological, molecular biological and immunological tests and support QA and instrument maintenance.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree, Florida MT license in Immunohematology, and at least 2 years of relevant experience; must work evenings/nights/weekends and be able to operate independently or with a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Certification in relevant specialty or field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Verifies specimen identification, prepares specimens for testing and handles all specimens safely.
• Analyzes test results and interprets abnormal or unusual results.
• Researches and prepares pertinent patient data and refers results to pathologists.
• Calibrates equipment, orders supplies and maintains inventory.
• Recognizes test inconsistencies and takes corrective action while supporting colleagues.
• Administers quality-control tests and maintains data recording.
• Assists with orienting and training employees on laboratory techniques.
• Adheres to policies and safeguards university assets.
• Completes duties as needed beyond stated scope.
