Job summary

UF Health North is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform a wide range of lab procedures, analyze quality control data, and interpret results. The role involves operating advanced analyzers, reporting findings, and training staff and students in a dynamic clinical setting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, with 1 year of MLS program or hospital lab experience and Florida technologist licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, or related field.
• One year of MLS NAACLS-approved program OR one year as a technologist in a hospital laboratory.
• Florida Technologist License in appropriate area(s) required.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accept specimens in the work area and ensure proper labeling.
• Perform moderate to high complexity procedures in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, immunohematology and molecular areas.
• Perform quality control testing and analyze data to ensure accurate results.
• Operate complex laboratory analyzers and document instrument checks and maintenance.
• Review and independently report normal or abnormal test results.
• Provide instruction and training to students and employees.
