Summary: Performs various patient testing and administrative tasks supporting clinical activities in UNCHCS. Both MT I and Med Lab Tech applicants are welcome.

Responsibilities:

• Investigate equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow issues.
• Participate in teams or special projects.
• Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and train new employees; serve as a technical resource.
• Perform quality control and equipment maintenance.
• Conduct routine and specialized tests, observe reactions, and report data.
• Prepare specimens, reagents, solutions, and filters.
• Report results to healthcare providers and consult regarding test outcomes.
• Review test results for accuracy and correct errors promptly.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's of Science degree; eligibility to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.

Licensure/Certification: Certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.

Experience: No prior experience required.

For Med Lab Tech:

• Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
• Certification eligibility with ASCP or AMT; must obtain BOC within a year if applicable.
