Job summary

White River Health System Inc. in Batesville, AR seeks a Medical Technologist I to join the WRMC Lab. The role focuses on performing and completing tests within established turnaround times and handling specimens according to departmental guidelines.

You will record and report data, participate in QA/QC, assist with proficiency testing, safety, instrument maintenance, phlebotomy, specimen triage, and training of students.

Responsibilities

• Performs and completes all tests according to departmental procedure manuals within established turnaround times; prioritizes tasks appropriately.
• Handles specimens according to departmental guidelines including unacceptable specimens and specimens for transport to reference labs.
• Records and reports testing data according to department guidelines.
• Performs and records required quality assurance/control data, recognizes outliers and takes corrective action as necessary
• Performs and reports proficiency tests as assigned
• Observes and abides by all mandated safety policies in performing duties.
• Performs instrument troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance as required and/or assigned.
• Observes reagent and supply inventories, including expiration dates and reports re-order needs to the supervisor or person responsible for supply ordering.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as needed.
• Performs specimen triage duties as needed
• Demonstrates initiative and makes good decisions in situations not covered by policies.
• Accepts and delivers constructive criticism in a positive manner.
• Interacts with and assists with training of students in the laboratory.
