Job summary

Freeman is seeking a Medical Technologist Generalist for the Core Lab to perform tests across Chemistry, Hematology, UA, Coagulation, Blood Bank and basic Microbiology. The role includes maintaining quality control, instrument checks, and record-keeping in a full-time 36-hour week (6:00am–6:30pm) with every third weekend.

You will contribute to patient care by supporting laboratory operations, training staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• MT/MLS or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience or training in medical laboratory settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and specialized lab tests in Chemistry, Hematology, UA, Coagulation, Blood Bank and basic Microbiology.
• Adheres to quality control procedures to ensure accurate results.
• Maintains records and contributes to instrument maintenance and calibration.
• Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures.

Schedule

Full-time, 36 hours per week, 6:00am-6:30pm and every third weekend.

• Medical Technologist Generalist, Core Lab (Chemistry, Hematology, UA, Coagulation, Blood Bank, and minimal Microbiology (plating and stat gram stains))

What You'll Do

Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

• Possesses problem solving skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish the job

• Demonstrates good time management and organizational skills

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor's in medical technology from an accredited institution

• One year acute care experience

• MT/MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), CLS (NCA), HEW or equivalent certification
