Job summary

Freeman is seeking a Microbiologist to perform routine and advanced laboratory tests on blood and body fluids under supervision. You will ensure accuracy through stringent quality control and maintain instrument performance and records per regulatory standards.

The role includes teaching new staff and students, collecting urine drug screens, and assisting in other lab areas to ensure high-quality patient care. Eligible for full-time opportunities with Freeman perks.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science (or MLT training) plus high school diploma.
• 1 year of acute care experience preferred.
• MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT) or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under supervision by the section chief technologist. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.

Requirements

• Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution; or have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician); and high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Requirements

• 1 year of acute care experience
• MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT) or equivalent certification
