We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Technologist I to join our Special Chemistry Team in Indianapolis, IN!

Scheduled Shift: Monday-Friday, 1st Shift

Pay Range: Offers will be based on skills, experience, relevant degrees/certifications, and market data.

Essential Functions
  1. Perform clinical laboratory testing accurately and timely.
  2. Resolve pendings, check specimens, document discrepancies, and notify management as needed.
  3. Prepare workstations and operate instruments following SOPs.
  4. Handle specimens properly, resolve technical issues, and perform routine testing and calculations.
  5. Ensure test result validity through quality assurance and control procedures.
  6. Document QC results, interpret according to Westgard rules, and record any biases or violations.
  7. Document corrective actions for unusual occurrences.
  8. Analyze proficiency testing samples as patient specimens.
  9. Manage reagents/materials, prepare and label them properly, and perform inventory control.
  10. Enter results manually or automatically, ensuring peer review and proper documentation.
  11. Maintain instruments, calibrate as needed, troubleshoot, and notify management of issues.
  12. Comply with regulatory guidelines and SOPs.
  13. Maintain up-to-date training and assist in training new employees.
  14. Coordinate with internal and external clients, respond to inquiries, and contribute to department metrics and goals.
  15. Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems and software.
  16. Follow safety policies, maintain a clean work environment, and minimize biohazard waste.
  17. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education/Qualifications/Certifications

Must qualify as testing personnel under CLIA 1988 and NY State Dept. of Health requirements, with options including:

  • Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science with training,
  • Bachelor’s in a life science with relevant experience,
  • Specific coursework totaling 90 semester hours with relevant biology, chemistry, and math courses,
  • Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training program, or
  • Associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology.
