DMC University Laboratories (DMCUL) is a regional, integrated laboratory system serving the eight hospitals of Detroit Medical Center. Established in 1993, DMCUL includes Core Laboratories, Specialty Laboratories, rapid response hospital laboratories, Centralized Stat Lab, Centralized Blood Bank Lab, and a comprehensive outreach infrastructure with patient service centers, remote ambulatory labs, marketing staff, courier system, and billing department. Our service area covers Southeast Michigan, offering a test menu of over 1,000 tests, including high-end specialty tests, with less than 1% sent to outside reference labs. We also provide reference lab services to other healthcare systems in Southeastern Michigan and out-of-state facilities.
Summary Description
Under general supervision, performs quantitative and qualitative tests on patient specimens according to standard procedures. Analyzes results, prepares samples, calculates findings, and maintains records. Prepares solutions, reagents, media, stains, and other materials required for testing. Processes and tests various specimens, reviews and reports results, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, and acts as a resource to staff.
