We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Technologist I in our Special Chemistry Team in Indianapolis, IN!

Scheduled Shift: First Shift

Pay Range: Compensation will be based on skills, experience, degrees, certifications, and internal and market factors.

Essential Functions
  1. Perform clinical laboratory testing accurately and timely.
  2. Resolve pending specimens, check specimens against pending lists, document discrepancies, and notify management if unresolved.
  3. Prepare workstation and instrumentation for testing.
  4. Handle specimens properly, resolve technical issues, and contact internal customers for clarification.
  5. Operate instruments according to procedures.
  6. Perform routine testing, calculations, and resolve assay problems.
  7. Ensure test result validity through quality assurance and control procedures.
  8. Document quality control results, interpret according to Westgard rules, and document biases or violations.
  9. Document corrective actions for unusual occurrences.
  10. Analyze proficiency testing samples as patient specimens.
  11. Manage reagents/materials, prepare and label reagents, document their implementation, and perform quality control practices.
  12. Enter results manually or automatically, ensuring peer review and proper documentation.
  13. Maintain instruments and equipment, calibrate, troubleshoot, and notify management of issues.
  14. Comply with regulatory guidelines and SOPs.
  15. Maintain up-to-date training records and complete competency assessments.
  16. Assist in training new employees and participate in meetings and training.
  17. Collaborate with internal and external clients, respond to inquiries, and contribute to department metrics and goals.
  18. Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems and software.
  19. Follow safety policies, maintain a clean environment, and minimize biohazard waste.
  20. Perform additional responsibilities as needed and report activities upon request.
Education/Qualifications/Certifications and Licenses
U.S. Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, or related life sciences with a 12-month training program.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological, or chemical science with one year of training/experience in the testing specialty.
  • OR 90 semester hours including biology, chemistry, and math, with clinical training or equivalent experience.
  • OR Associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology.
