We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Technologist I to join our Genomics team in Indianapolis, IN!

Essential Functions
  • Perform assigned clinical laboratory testing accurately and promptly.
  • Resolve pendings, check specimens, document discrepancies, and notify management if unresolved.
  • Prepare workstation and instrumentation for testing.
  • Handle specimens properly, resolve technical issues, and contact internal customers as needed.
  • Operate instruments according to procedures, perform routine testing and calculations.
  • Ensure test result validity via quality assurance and control procedures.
  • Document quality control results, interpret according to Westgard rules, and document biases or violations.
  • Document corrective actions for unusual occurrences.
  • Analyze proficiency testing samples.
  • Manage reagents/materials/supplies, including receiving, labeling, and inventory control.
  • Enter results manually or via auto-verification, ensure peer review, and maintain documentation.
  • Ensure maintenance and calibration of instruments, troubleshoot as needed.
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines and SOPs.
  • Maintain up-to-date training and perform departmental duties as scheduled.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients, respond to inquiries, and understand department metrics.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems and software.
  • Follow safety policies, maintain a clean work environment, and minimize hazards.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Certifications

Must qualify as testing personnel under CLIA 1988 and NY State Department of Health, with options including:

  • Bachelor's in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science with a 12-month training,
  • Bachelor's in a life science with one year of training/experience in testing,
  • 90 semester hours including biology, chemistry, and math, with clinical training or experience,
  • Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology.
