Job summary

Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL seeks a Medical Technologist I (Gen Lab) to perform routine and complex tests on blood and body fluids. Multiple shifts available, including 4:30 am–3:00 pm with 8 days on/6 days off, and 6:00 am–4:30 pm with 7 days on/7 days off.

PRN days also offered. Responsibilities include ensuring quality control, instrument maintenance, and accurate data collection for regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Passing score on Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency exam approved by HEW.
• 0-2 years of acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently with timely reporting and proper documentation.
• Adheres to quality control procedures and performs necessary checks to resolve out-of-range results.
• Conducts instrument function checks and preventative maintenance per policies.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel as needed.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and proper use of PPE.
• Communicates test results and issues with peers and supervisors; supports data collection for accreditation and regulatory compliance.
• Collects specimens for required tests and assists with phlebotomy as needed.
• Maintains good attendance and adheres to all policies.
