Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform clearly defined laboratory procedures and report results to assure optimal patient outcomes. The role involves assigned shifts, potential overtime, and callbacks as required.

Responsibilities include specimen processing, performing procedures, quality control, instrument maintenance, accurate ID verification, and contributing to student instruction as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum education for MLS/MT with program accreditation.
• Experience preferred in clinical laboratory settings is implied by the role.

• Receive, identify, organize, and prioritize specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Perform and report requested laboratory procedures.
• Conduct quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance, and inventory control.
• Evaluate patient identification to minimize errors and improve outcomes.
• Assess results and draw appropriate clinical conclusions.
• Support ongoing learning and complete assigned goals.
• Provide instruction to personnel and medical technology students when required.

Job Summary

Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures assuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call back as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimen to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance and inventory control.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Supports life long learning.
• Completes assigned goals.
• Provide instruction for personnel and medical technology students, as required.
