Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation in Memphis seeks a Laboratory professional (MLS/MT) to perform and report clearly defined laboratory procedures across assigned shifts. The role requires handling specimens, ensuring timely test results, and maintaining quality control.

Minimum qualifications include a MLS/MT bachelor’s degree and national certification in line with Federal/State regulations, with ASCP preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technology (MT) from an accredited program.
• National certification in concordance with current Federal and/or State Regulations.
• Basic computer literacy required.

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimen to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance and inventory control.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Supports life long learning.
• Completes assigned goals.
• Provide instruction for personnel and medical technology students, as required.

Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures assuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call back as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
