Medical Laboratory Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist - Casual

Hours will vary

Scheurer Health, a critical access rural hospital, is seeking a self-motivated and reliable MLT or MLS to join our Laboratory team. This position provides essential information for diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses following established guidelines and quality control standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs all clinical laboratory procedures
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots analyzers, and performs quality control
• Accurately examines and analyzes specimen samples
• Handles infectious materials carefully
• Collects blood and other specimens under aseptic conditions
• Accurately records test results and judiciously uses materials
• Demonstrates competency in Blood Bank, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Phlebotomy
• Follows hospital policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements

For Medical Technologist/MLS:

• Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or related field from an accredited institution
• Completion of an internship program from an approved school of medical technology or clinical laboratory science
• ASCP MT certification, AMT certification, or eligibility to take the certification exam, with certification within one year of hire

For Medical Technician:

• Associate degree from an accredited Medical Technician program
• Completion of clinical internship
• ASCP MT certification or eligibility to take the exam, with certification within one year of hire
