The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Medical Technologist (PRN) to perform diagnostic testing across multiple departments and assist with specimen preparation under supervision.
Required is a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related discipline and ASCP BOC certification (or registry eligibility with certification within the first year). The role is hourly and part-time, with 40 scheduled hours per week in an offsite lab setting.
Job Summary / Purpose: The Medical Technologist (Flex) reports to section Managers. Under general supervision, the Medical Technologist performs a variety of complex test procedures and may be assigned to work in Transfusion Services, Fast Flow, Microbiology, ART OR Lab, Specialized Testing Laboratories, Referral Testing or the Ambulatory Care Laboratories

Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing. Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.
A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related medical or scientific discipline
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC). If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment.
