RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Flow Cytometry Technologist for the Lab NB Flow Cytometry team in West Orange, NJ. You will perform leukemia-lymphoma immunophenotyping and analyze results to support patient care.

The role requires a BS degree in Medical Technology or related field, and prior Flow Cytometry experience with strong organizational and teamwork skills. Day shift, full-time, with competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Perform leukemia/lymphoma immunophenotyping by flow cytometry per protocol.
• Prepare samples, stain, acquire data, and analyze results.
• Interpret immunophenotypic results and discuss with Pathologists.
• Assist with development, optimization, and validation of new tests.
• Maintain high competency and participate in problem-solving.
• Utilize computer systems for Flow Cytometry data analysis.
• Assess specimen acceptability according to guidelines.
• Prepare cell counts and dilutions for staining.
• Prepare reagents and working solutions; monitor usage of reagents.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Flow Cytometry Technologist is responsible for clinical flow cytometry testing with a focus on leukemia, lymphoma immunophenotyping, Stem cell enumeration and Lymphocyte subsets, T and B cell counts

A high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to testing, clinical relevance, and complex problem-solving skills is required along,

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Chemical/Physical/Biological Science,
• Previous experience as a tech in Flow Cytometry
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and a team-oriented mindset
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Completes all aspects of leukemia-lymphoma immunophenotyping, including sample preparation, staining, acquisition, and data analysis using established protocols
• Demonstrates knowledge and application of theory and clinical relevance of Flow Cytometry with the ability to identify abnormal cell populations, understands immunophenotypic results, and knows how to proceed in variant situations
• Recognize and take appropriate action in response to critical or unexpected results and communicate effectively with Pathologists
• Assists with the development, optimization, and validation of new tests as requested by the Flow Supervisor
• Performs all duties at a high level of competency and actively participates in problem solving using advanced level of decision-making skills
• Demonstrates knowledge and application of computer systems used in Flow Cytometry analysis
• Determines the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established guidelines
• Accurately performs cell counts and make dilutions to ensure optimal staining,
• Prepares reagent stock, antibody cocktails, and working solutions
• Monitors proper use and consumption of reagents, materials and consumables
• Assists in cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment
• Prepares stains on peripheral blood smears, bone marrow aspirates eg: Wright Stain, iron, enzyme cytochemistry as needed,
