Job summary

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) invites you to join the hospital laboratory as a Medical Technologist (MT). You will perform patient testing across departments, maintain quality control, and ensure accurate results with timely reporting.

National certification (ASCP, NCA, or AMT) or equivalent is required within six months of hire; a Bachelor's degree in laboratory science is required. Two years preferred.

  • Strong understanding of testing protocols and quality control practices.
  • Completion of documentation and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient testing across all laboratory departments following established protocols.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality control for lab instruments.
  • Handle and process specimens with precision and documentation of results.
  • Accurately report results including critical values and review tests for accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot issues affecting test performance and escalate when needed.
  • Assist with supervisory duties under the laboratory supervisor.

Your Role
  • Conduct patient testing across all laboratory departments, adhering to established protocols.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control measures for lab instruments.
  • Handle and process specimens with precision, ensuring compliance with testing and safety standards.
  • Accurately document, review, and report patient test results, including critical values.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting test performance or elevate as necessary.
  • Assist with supervisory duties under the guidance of the laboratory supervisor.
Specimen Collection & Clerical Duties
  • Collect and prepare specimens following prescribed guidelines, ensuring patient comfort and understanding.
  • Accession, label, and distribute specimens to appropriate lab departments.
  • Manage billing forms, lab requisitions, and patient records with accuracy.
  • Use computer systems for data input, storage, and retrieval.

Summary

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical biological or clinical laboratory science or meet other provisions defined in CLIA 42CFT 493.
  • Two years’ experience preferred but not required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • National recognized laboratory certification such as ASCP or AMT is required within 6 months of hire. Exceptions or extensions may be given on an individual basis, which is based on extenuating circumstances. All exceptions or extensions must be approved by the laboratory director, laboratory manager and director of human resources. Current CPR/BLS Certification
