Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher required; MT degree preferred.
• Florida MT license required.
• Licensure in clinical specialty areas preferred; Generalist highly preferred (Blood bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology).
• Clinical MT experience preferred; new graduates welcome.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing and analyze proficiency testing samples according to instructions, meeting designated time frames.
• Assume departmental responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor.
• Complete all required records/documentation related to patient results.
• Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets.
• Demonstrate good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results, including performing delta checks.
• Review pending logs (OSR) and result logs, resolving any outstanding workload or communicating to staff relief.
• Take appropriate corrective action when patient, quality control, standard, calibration, or proficiency results are not within appropriate guidelines.

Requirements:

• State of Florida Medical Technologist License is required.
• Licensure in one or more clinical specialty areas is preferred, with Generalist highly preferred: Blood bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology.
• Preferred experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical setting.
• Minimum 1 year of experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
• Generalist license (all areas) is required, but applicants licensed in 3 or more specific areas (Blood bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology) will also be considered.
