St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center seeks a Medical Technologist to perform moderate and high complexity testing, analyze results, and ensure specimen integrity.

You will receive specimens, enter patient data accurately, and troubleshoot systems while maintaining quality controls and timely reporting. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology, clinical rotation or internship, and MT registry eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field is required.
• MT/MLS program completion or military training with eligibility to take registry exam.
• Registration as MT by ASCP/NCA/AMT or passing registry score within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing and report results.
• Ensure specimen integrity and proper handling and processing.
• Receive specimens, print labels, and enter patient data accurately.
• Operate and troubleshoot test systems and identify issues affecting results.
• Ensure age-appropriate test selection and timely result reporting.
• Participate in quality control activities and proficiency testing.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing. You will analyze, review, and report test results and quality control results, and ensure specimen integrity by adhering to laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.

• You will complete moderate and high complexity testing and follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining patient result records
• You will correctly receive specimens, print labels, and enter and verify patient data without errors
• You will operate and troubleshoot test systems
• You will identify problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results
• You will ensure that test selection and reference ranges are age-appropriate
• You will ensure timely availability of laboratory results
• You will perform quality control activities appropriate to each assay performed and respond appropriately to outlier results
• You will participate in proficiency testing activities in each applicable technical area

What qualifications you will need:

Hours: Every Tuesday (or possibly Wednesday), Friday and Saturday from 0530 - 1800

Experience

• 2 years of generalist and blood bank experience in acute care setting – preferred

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field
• Graduation from a clinical rotation or internship from an accredited medical technology program OR, 50-week military training course or acceptable equivalent which results in eligibility to take registry exam in medical technology (Clinical Laboratory Science).

Licenses and Certifications

• Registration as a Medical Technologist (MT) by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency (NCA), or American Medical Technologists (AMT) OR, evidence of a passing registry exam score within 1 year of hire
