Job summary

Reston Hospital Center seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform assigned tests across Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Blood Bank, Serology, Coagulation, Urinalysis and Microbiology, reporting results per our laboratory procedures.

Requirements include MT (ASCP) or equivalent/eligible, a 4-year Medical Technology allied health degree, two years of lab experience, and computer skills. Weekend/holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an approved Medical Technology School or Allied Health (4 year program).
• MT (ASCP), or equivalent/eligible.
• Licensure: None
• Experience: Two years laboratory experience. Computer Skills required.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned laboratory tests in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Blood Bank, Serology, Coagulation, Urinalysis and Microbiology.

Job Summary And Qualifications

PURPOSE

Performs assigned laboratory tests in the following departments: Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Blood Bank, Serology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Microbiology. Reports results in accordance with the laboratory's procedure manuals and ensures that applicable quality control requirements are met.

JOB RELATIONSHIP

Reports to Laboratory Medical Director, Technical Director and Assistant Laboratory Director.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an approved Medical Technology School or Allied Health (4 year program)
• MT (ASCP), or equivalent/eligible.
• Licensure: None
• Experience: Two years laboratory experience. Computer Skills required.

HOURS OF WORK

As scheduled by Department Director to ensure appropriate coverage of department services. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled. Participates in on-call requirements as per department policy.
