Job summary

American Esoteric Labs in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist for the 1st shift. This full-time role involves performing moderate to high complexity testing, analyzing results, and ensuring safety and quality in a fast-paced lab.

Requirements include a high school diploma or AMA-approved ML program (or BS with AMA program for MT), TN licensure as MLT/MT, ASCP or equivalent, and at least 6 months of lab experience. Training in PHI handling is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and AMA-approved Medical Laboratory training to qualify as MLT.
• Or Bachelors + AMA-approved Medical Technology program for MT qualification.
• TN licensure as MLT or MT.
• ASCP certification or equivalent.
• 6 months of laboratory training or experience.
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to operate common lab equipment (analyzers, pipettes, centrifuges, microscopes, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate to high complexity testing as part of patient care.
• Analyze, review, and report testing results.
• Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement solutions.
• Work in a lab with biological and chemical hazards.
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.

This opportunity is full-time during first shift.

Location: Knoxville, TN

Days: Monday - Friday with rotating weekends.

Hours: 6AM to 2:30PM

In This Role, You Will

• Perform a vital part of the patient care process through moderate and high complexity testing
• Analyze, review, and report testing results
• Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions
• Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control

All You Need Is

• High school diploma or equivalent and the completion of an AMA-approved Medical Laboratory training program to qualify as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
• Or
• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent preferred and completion of an AMA-approved program of Medical Technology to qualify as a Medical Technologist (MT)
• Current TN licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT).
• Certification or eligible by ASCP or equivalent
• 6 months of laboratory training or experience
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms.

• 2+ years of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing within area of specialty
