Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA is hiring a Medical Technologist to perform high‑level analysis of blood, body fluids and tissues in a fast‑paced Rapid Response Lab. You will operate analyzers and maintain laboratory equipment while delivering accurate results for patient care.

The role offers an evening shift (32 hours) with rotating weekends/holidays and competitive hourly pay. A MT/MLS/MLT‑ASCP certification or eligibility within the first year is required, with prior lab experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or MLT-equivalent program.
• Certification MT/MLS/MLT‑ASCP or eligible within the first year.
• Experience in one or more lab areas is preferred (Blood Bank, Microbiology, Hematology, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopy.
• Ensures operation of analyzers and all laboratory equipment.

You would be responsible for providing highly skilled analysis of blood, fluids, and tissue samples.

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures
• Ensures operation of analyzers and all laboratory equipment

Position Hours:

32 hours, Evening Shift, rotating weekends & holidays

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college/university or Associate’s Degree in an MLT certification program.
• MT, MLS or MLT-ASCP or equivalent level certification by one of the professional societies. Or must be eligible to obtain certification within the first year of employment.
• Prior experience preferred, in one or more of the following: Blood Bank, Microbiology, Bacteriology, Virology, Parasitology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, Immunology, Molecular Diagnostics, Core Lab, Hematology, Coagulation, Routine Chemistry, Urinalysis), and Special Chemistry.

Pay Range:

$30.10 - $48.15

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
