Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our Rapid Response Lab Team. You will perform skilled analyses of blood, fluids, and tissue samples and ensure accurate operation of analyzers and related equipment.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or an MLT program with MT/MLS/MLT-ASCP certification or eligibility within the first year. Prior experience in Blood Bank and Microbiology is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college/university or Associate’s Degree in an MLT certification program.
• MT, MLS or MLT-ASCP or equivalent certification by one of the professional societies, or eligible within the first year.
• Prior experience preferred in Blood Bank, Microbiology, Virology, Parasitology, and related core lab areas.

Responsibilities

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopic techniques.
• Ensures operation of analyzers and all laboratory equipment.
